Making the Most of the Summer – Activities to Enjoy as the Warmer Weather Arrives

Summer is here and there are plenty of things that we can enjoy at this time of the year. Here are some of the best things about the summer months and how to make the most of the warm weather…

Outdoor Swimming – Swimming outdoors is something that we don’t have the opportunity to do much in this country, so when the weather is warm it is definitely time to make the most of it! If you have little ones, a paddling pool in the back garden is a great way to keep them entertained and cool as well. If you want to go further afield, there are lots of lovely lidos all over the UK, where you can enjoy swimming in a pool under the summer sunshine. Make sure to check each pool’s website, and whether you need to book, especially during the school holidays when lidos can become very busy! If you really want to absorb yourself in nature, then wild swimming is definitely something to consider.

Summer Food – There is nothing like enjoying light food, served with a cool drink in the sunshine. Whether you want to spend less time cooking or want to sit out and enjoy some summery culinary creations, there are lots of foods available in the summer, from the classic British strawberries and cream, to recipes for Mediterranean inspired meals – just make sure that you have a frying pan with PTFE coating to make your life easier in the kitchen!

Walks in the Countryside – Instead of having to wrap up warm, you can really enjoy those long summer days and get out and explore the countryside. On very warm days, make sure that you take sun protection, like a hat and a plenty of water, as well as sun cream of course. There are lots of beautiful walks all over the UK where you can see plants and animals at this busy time of year for the natural world. You can even pack up a picnic to make it a really fun family day out, as well as games and toys to get the kids away from the screens for the day!
